HAIR DIAGNOSIS (TRICHOSCAN)

The capillary diagnosis Trichoscan is a digitized test that measures the density of the hair and the proportion that is in a growing phase (anagen or telogen). Its fast, accurate and painless.

This test quantifies the degree of alopecia, and if a periodic observation is conducted (semiannual or annual), its progress can be evaluated.

It also allows evaluating the results of a particular treatment, such as the application of our custom made formulas.

Diagnosis Trichoscan

The capillary diagnosis Trichoscan allows studying the hair density and the proportion of follicles in anagen or telogen without having to remove hair samples from the patient. This alone is a great advantage over other more invasive techniques, such as the classic trichograms, requiring the removal of 50-100 hairs.

The capillary full Trichoscan study takes place in two sessions:

  • During the first, the area to be explored is chosen (an area of 2 inches in diameter, which presents the problem, but that is not visible to the way the patient styles his/her hair). The chosen portion is shaved and dyed, to capture and count even the thinnest and lightest hair.
  • In the second session a 20x magnified picture is taken to the problem area and the results are analyzed. This session is conducted three days after the first to distinguish the hair that has grown-in (anágeno- phase) and the one that has not (telogen).

The photograph of the area is used to count the number of hairs in that area –the density of the hair- and classify them according to the growth phase (anagen / telogen). These two parameters are the key to know the stage of alopecia.

In addition, the study incorporates Trichoscan file system images, which allow comparing successive scans. This way, the evolution of alopecia can be objectively analyzed –its change in density and anagen / telógen- ratio or if there is an increase or not in the density of hair in anagen- while treatment is taking place. For example, the application of a hair loss formula.

The trichoscan system will provide the dermatologist precise and objective measurements, which will allow him/her to choose the right treatment, keep it or change it depending on the results and evolution.
